Steven Neraoff


Steven Nerayoff is a technology entrepreneur, attorney, venture capitalist and inventor of over 20 international patents. In the blockchain industry, Steven has been an advisor or investor in more than 25 leading projects including Ethereum, CasperLabs, tZERO, Lisk, and AION.

Steven has been a key innovator of both “utility” and “security” tokens. Steven is renowned for innovating the legal concept of the “utility” token and has been called the Architect of the ICO. Steven architected the innovative legal structure behind Ethereum's record setting token sale, which continues to be the basic structure for token sales used throughout the world today. Steven again set the standard by designing the seminal Security Token Offering (STO) for tZERO, the world’s first security token exchange.



Steven is also the CEO and Founder of Alchemist, a leading consultancy, and investment firm for high-potential blockchain companies. Alchemist has advised or invested in many of the most prestigious blockchain projects.

Alchemist has also partnered with Techstars to bring a new mentorship-driven first tier accelerator program called the Alchemist Blockchain Techstars Accelerator. The dedicated blockchain accelerator program focuses on blockchain infrastructure and protocol development.

Before it was renamed Alchemist, Steven founded Maple Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on emerging technologies including blockchain-based payment systems, consumer internet companies, and socially-conscious enterprises.

Steven is also the Founder & Executive Chairman of CloudParc, a patented next-generation artificial intelligence and blockchain-based smart city platform that has groundbreaking technology for cities of the future.

Steven previously founded a multitude of companies in New York and across Silicon Valley, including Freedom Eldercare, iOffer.com, Fleetwood Owen, eWanted.com, and Inside/Out City Guides.

Before founding a series of successful ventures, Steven was a practicing attorney at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, focusing on technology issues, M&A, structured transactions, and tax law.

Steven has had a successful educational career that began with a BS in Accounting degree from American University in Washington, DC.. Steven then went on to hold a JD from Tulane University Law School, and then an LLM in Taxation degree from New York University School of Law.
